A Documentary Airs
In April of 2017, I was selected by a wonderful group of people, the Ramsey Hill Association (RHA), to write a proposal to the Minnesota Historical Society for one of their Legacy Grants. The goal was to fund a very special documentary that chronicled the amazing life cycle of the Historic Hill District in Saint Paul, MN.
The focus of the project was to capture the voices telling the stories of how this well-known area went from the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald and James J. Hill, to a place of boarded up, decaying buildings, drugs, crime and prostitution, to the beautifully restored mansions, vibrant neighborhood, and captured history it reflects today.
I am very proud to share that Saint Paul's Historic Hill: Salvaging a Gilded Past, premiered this month on TPT Public Television.
Here is a link to more information on the broadcast. https://www.tpt.org/st-pauls-historic-hill-salvaging-a-gilded-past/.
I was also honored to be a production liaison during the filming and if you look fast, you will see me listed in the credits.
This was all made possible by the dedicated team at RHA, the talents of Tom Trow, and the great folks of the Hill District who became urban warriors and shared their perspectives on making a community rise from near ruins.
